Indiana Fever hire former assistant as head coach

The Indiana Fever announced Christie Sides as their newest head coach Friday.

She was most recently an Atlanta Dream assistant during the 2022 season. She was an Indiana Fever assistant coach during the 2018 and 2019 seasons and has served in various coaching capacities collegiately and overseas during the past two decades.

“We are thrilled to have someone with Christie’s experience and record of success leading our young players to the next level,” Fever President Dr. Allison Barber said in a statement. “Coach Sides embodies our Fever tenets and focus. She is committed to excellence, competitive on the court and a contributor to our community.”

Sides will take over a franchise that has posted an 11-57 record during the past two seasons and has a 44.2% chance of getting the No. 1 pick in the 2023 WNBA draft.

“I want to thank the Simon family, Lin Dunn and the entire Pacers Sports & Entertainment organization for this opportunity. It is an honor to be a part of a world-class sports franchise,” Sides said in a statement. “Indiana has a great winning tradition and I am excited to team up with Lin and the rest of the organization in laying the foundation for sustainable success as we enter the next era of Fever basketball.”
