Lions use big fourth quarter to rally past Bears in Chicago

CHICAGO − The Detroit Lions scored 21 points in the fourth quarter Sunday to overcome a 14-point deficit and defeat the Chicago Bears, 31-30, for coach Dan Campbell’s first road win in 13 tries as the team’s head coach.

After Justin Fields ran through the Lions defense for a 67-yard tiebreaking touchdown, Cairo Santos missed the extra point at Soldier Field. Jared Goff then led a Lions touchdown drive, culminating with a 1-yard Jamaal Williams touchdown run and Michael Badgley made the go-ahead extra point. The Lions defense held the Bears on fourth down in the final two minutes.

It’s the Lions’ first road win since Dec. 6, 2020, featuring another fourth-quarter rally in Chicago for a 34-30 win in the first game under interim coach Darrell Bevell.

The Lions (3-6) are now in second place in the NFC North, with two consecutive wins. The Lions visit the New York Giants next Sunday at 1 p.m. The Bears (3-7) visit Atlanta.
